Men and women in their forties may start to think about how time has changed their skin, especially on the neck, and wish for a way to bring back their youthful look. At Snyder Plastic Surgery at The Breast and Body Center, our neck lift surgery can strikingly improve a patient's neck profile. Our experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ned Snyder IV can trim away redundant, sagging neck skin as he is highly trained in skin tightening techniques.
A neck lift is ideal for older patients with skin elasticity issues and younger patients who may have lost a significant amount of weight. If you are tired of living with "turkey neck" or deep wrinkles on your neck, Dr. Snyder can help you make a plan. If you have excess fat on your neck, a neck lift will not resolve this problem. You may consider having neck liposuction simultaneously with your neck lift procedure for amazing results. Call our Austin, TX plastic surgery office and request a consultation today.
A neck lift removes hanging skin and reshapes the neck. During the procedure, an incision is placed under the chin and/or behind or in front of the ears. If fat deposits are present and need to be removed, liposuction will be used during the surgery and performed first. The final steps of treatment will be to trim away excess skin, pull the remaining underlying tissue and muscle tight, and suture the incision.
"I had an amazing experience with beautiful results - I couldn’t be happier with my breast augmentation results. Everyone that I met from my first consultation to my post follow up after surgery were extremely helpful and informative. Dr. Snyder himself is an amazing surgeon. My results are perfect and better than I ever could have imagined. I highly recommend him if you are thinking about this procedure. His PA, Jen was extremely helpful and informative as well. The facilities from Dr. Snyder’s office to the surgical site used were clean, beautiful and comfortable. I felt well taken care the entire time and am thrilled with my results."- Anonymous / Vitals / Mar 08, 2018
"Dr. Snyder, his P.A. Jen, Laurene, and the entire staff have been the most outstanding and accommodating medical professionals with whom I have ever interacted. They go above and beyond in virtually every way I can imagine. The facilities are updated and pristine. They are kind and genuinely care for their patients. I have had two major surgeries after almost 200 pounds of weight loss and, while the recovery after those procedures was always going to be long and difficult, Dr. Snyder and his staff has made all the work more than worth it. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. -Justin"- J.T. / Yelp / Jul 05, 2019
"Dr. Snyder and his PA, Jenn, were excellent. I was consistently treated with compassion and dignity. RNs and office staff were also excellent! This procedure is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient surgery at an accredited surgical clinic. The duration of the surgery usually takes around 2 hours, although it may vary depending on the case. Bruising and swelling will be visible after the surgery, but this will subside in the few short days following the procedure. Initially, patients will feel tightness and numbness. Once the neck adjusts to its new position, patients will notice a more relaxed feeling and a beautiful surgical result. It can take up to 6 months for the final results to appear.

Neck Lift FAQs
Alternative to Lift?
Surgery is the only way to remove loose skin, especially if it is loose enough to hang and droop. Therefore, a neck lift is the only solution when it comes to redefining an individual’s neck to create a strong contour. While there are some very good skin tightening laser treatments on the market today, surgery is still the best option.
There is minimal scarring with this procedure. Since the incision is placed under the chin and near the ears, the scarring is usually hidden. A skilled facial surgeon like Dr. Snyder will take great effort to minimize scarring as much as possible.
This depends on the situation and the amount of loose and sagging skin that is present. Some weight loss patients are young and may require a neck lift at a young age (for example, those between 20 – 30). For older patients who are combatting loose skin due to aging, the most common age is between 50 – 70.
During the initial consultation, it may be brought up that in addition to a neck lift, the patient may also benefit from another procedure, such as a facelift or a chin implant. It is common for these additional procedures to be combined to achieve the patient’s desired contours and aesthetic goals.
