Case Summary
This patient came to our office to discuss options for breast reconstruction following bilateral mastectomies for breast cancer treatment. With a history of chemotherapy and radiation, she was not a candidate for implant-based reconstruction and chose a delayed DIEP flap breast reconstruction, using her own natural tissue to restore breast shape. She desired to be slightly smaller than her pre-mastectomy size for a more proportionate result. Having recently lost weight through diet and exercise and planning to continue her wellness journey, she was a good candidate for autologous reconstruction.
