Immediate DIEP flap reconstruction followed by radiation therapy

This patient underwent preoperative chemotherapy, followed by bilateral mastectomies and immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction. Once her breast had healed for several weeks, she then proceeded to have radiation treatment to her right breast. In her photos, you can see how well the abdominal tissue used in a DIEP can withstand the effects of radiation. She maintained a good breast shape and size.
