Your chest may lack definition even though you may look lean. This scenario can greatly affect your self-esteem. Our board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon,k Dr. Ned Snyder IV, is experienced in the art and science of pectoral etching. If you would like to learn more about pec etching, we would like to offer you a consultation in one of our Austin, TX area offices.

Surgical Technique

A pectoral etching procedure is performed in an accredited surgical center or hospital under general anesthesia. You can expect this surgery to last 1 – 2 hours, or longer if combined with another procedure like abdominal etching or pectoral implant surgery. Once you are prepped, Dr. Snyder will remove excess tissue via liposuction using a cannula to create real definition on your pectorals. Some patients may require a pec implant to get a specific look to their chest. The result will be a chest that looks leaner with a more toned appearance.

I had an amazing experience with beautiful results - I couldn’t be happier with my breast augmentation results. Everyone that I met from my first consultation to my post follow up after surgery were extremely helpful and informative. Dr. Snyder himself is an amazing surgeon. My results are perfect and better than I ever could have imagined. I highly recommend him if you are thinking about this procedure. His PA, Jen was extremely helpful and informative as well. The facilities from Dr. Snyder’s office to the surgical site used were clean, beautiful and comfortable. I felt well taken care the entire time and am thrilled with my results.

Anonymous Vitals

After back to back pregnancies, my body had been put through the ringer in a short period of time. I had an umbilical hernia and diastasis recti. Dr. Snyder restored my body and sanity after a mini tummy tuck and a much needed breast lift. I never imagined the results I got. They were better than I expected and my husband was very impressed as well. Dr. Snyder is a true artist! I have told all my Mommy friends to get their "Body by Snyder." Thank you Dr. Snyder for making me feel and look like myself again!

During/After Surgery

After your pectoral etching procedure, we will take you to a recovery area. Our post-operation nurses will help you prepare for discharge, manage your pain, monitor your progress, and help you into a compression garment. It is very important to wear the required compression garment for 2 weeks after surgery to reduce bruising and excessive swelling. You will need to have someone with you to drive you home. You will usually be released to go back to work within a week of the surgery. Dr. Snyder will want to see you 7 days after surgery for a follow-up appointment. We ask that you refrain from exercise for several weeks as this may disturb your incisions and cause unnecessary complications. If you have any questions about your surgical wounds after your release, please call our office with your questions. We would be happy to help.

About Us
Can I Keep Working Out?

You can give yourself permission to take a break from exercising for 2 – 3 weeks after your pectoral etching procedure. Let the incisions on your chest heal. When you hit the gym again, you may still have slight bruising or swelling, but that should subside. Dr. Snyder may require you to wear a compression garment to help along with your progress.

Implants for Men?

When a patient asks for a pectoral etching and does not have enough excess fat to sculpt on his chest, Dr. Snyder may recommend placing a pectoral implant made of a synthetic material. During your consultation, you can talk with our team on the best way to approach your surgery and decide if an implant would meet your needs.

Can You Etch My Abs, too?

Yes. There are several procedures that you could combine with a pectoral etching surgery. Many men do combine both the pectoral and abdominal etching for fantastic results. With more incisions, it will increase your recovery time and the cost of the surgery. The investment will lead you to well-defined chest and abs you'll want to show off!
