Liposuction is one of the most requested cosmetic surgery procedures at Snyder Plastic Surgery at The Breast and Body Center and is an ideal way to remove a small amount of fat from problem areas. Exercise and dieting may not be enough to look lean and tight, since it may leave some stubborn pockets of fat untouched. Liposuction surgery is typically performed on the legs, hips, stomach, inner and outer thighs, buttock, arms, chin, knees, and ankles. The concept of liposuction is surprisingly simple. Liposuction is a surgical technique that improves the body’s contour by removing excess fat from deposits located between the skin and muscle. Liposuction involves the use of a small stainless-steel tube, called a cannula. Fat removal is accomplished as the suction cannula creates tiny tunnels through the fatty layers. After surgery, these tiny tunnels collapse and thus result in an improved body contour. The end result of a liposuction procedure is a more toned, tighter physique, and a shapelier body. "Excellent Surgeon, Listens to your Needs, Excellent Results - I have been treated by both Dr. Ned Snyder and Dr. Renee Snyder. I would give them both 5 stars, they are truly excellent at their craft and I am more than thrilled at my results. I had a breast augmentation in my twenties and needed another one after two kids. I am very picky when choosing a plastic surgeon and dermatologist. Dr. Ned Snyder specializes in breast augmentation and I can tell by the results of my breast aug.. I was absolutely THRILLED with Dr. Ned Snyder and my breast augmentation. Dr. Ned listened to my needs and did exactly what I wanted with my breast aug. My breasts are natural looking and were very conservatively done, exactly what I had asked him to do. In addition, he performed liposuction on my stomach and thighs. I am only a week out and I am so happy with the results. The incisions are small and follow up has been excellent. I am honestly thrilled with my results and with Dr. Ned Snyder bedside manner and surgical skill. My liposuction looks wonderful and his high skill level is apparent. I use these sites often to learn more about surgeons and I can honestly say that Dr. Ned Snyder is an excellent surgeon and truly has performed incredible work on me. If you are having plastic surgery, he is a must see.Dr. Renee Snyder is excellent as well. She is spot on with her treatment technique. I have had bad melasma on my face after having kids. She is honest and up front about my treatment options setting my expectations appropriately. In addition, she is does not try to sell you everything under the sun for skin care. She tells you what you need to use that truly works. She is truly and artist with botox and filler. I as well as several of my friends go to her and they do not look frozen from Botox. It is amazing what a natural, refreshed look she can give you with Botox and filler. I have not found anyone who does botox and filler better than her. I also have had two laser treatments done and both have been well worth the money. Rachel who runs the laser is exceptional at her job. Lastly, I had several benign bumps under and over my eyes. I have been to 4 dermatologists for them and all told me there was nothing they could do. Dr. Renee Snyder knew exactly what to do and treated my spots and corrected them. I am thrilled as I was quite self conscience and now they are gone. If I had not gone to her I would have lived with these bumps thinking that nothing could be done as others have told me so.The staff is tremendous. Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable about procedures. 5 stars for sure!!!!"- Anonymous / Vitals / Apr 13, 2011

"I chose Dr. Snyder for my tummy tuck and liposuction. He came highly referred by a friend as well as online reviews. I’m truly thankful that I chose Dr. Snyder and his staff as they cared for me as if I were a loved one. I felt safe, educated, respected, and cared for in a real genuine and honest way.I had first consulted with Sono Bello and fear what my results would have been if I would have chosen that route. I am 5 weeks post surgery, couldn't be happier with my results, my follow ups, and the support from his staff to answer and and all questions along the way. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Snyder and getting to know his care team during your consultation. I've been waiting to do this for a decade and wouldn't change a thing. Thanks team!!!"- M.J. / Google / Oct 21, 2019

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes stubborn fat from areas of the body that are resistant to diet and exercise. Men and women most commonly remove fat from the stomach, hips, lower back, thighs, arms, chin, and chest. Liposuction is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia at a hospital or accredited surgery center. The length of time in surgery is dependent on how many areas will be addressed. It can be a stand-alone surgery or combined with other procedures. However, Dr. Snyder may suggest performing the surgeries over a period of time for safety.
This surgery involves small incisions, usually less than 1 cm in length made to introduce the cannula into the areas that need liposuction. The number of incisions is dependent on the location of the surgery and how many areas are being addressed. All incisions will be covered with a small, sterile dressing that can stay in place for several days. Sutures will need to be removed by a provider in the office approximately 7 – 10 days after surgery.
Tumescent liposuction, known as the "super-wet" approach, is a suction-assisted (SAL) technique that uses a solution and power-aided motor to help remove stubborn fat. Dr. Snyder injects the solution, made of saline, lidocaine and epinephrine (to control bleeding), into the problem areas. Then, the cannula (attached to a motor) is inserted to remove fat cells from the body at a controlled speed. The motor helps remove anywhere from several ounces to a few pounds of fat.
Another surgical technique commonly used is the ultrasound-assisted (UAL), or ultrasonic, approach. Dr. Snyder performs this dual process on denser areas of fat, such as in the thighs and stomach. During this technique, ultrasound waves loosen and melt fat into a liquid. The cannula is used to extract the solution. This surgical method is more popular among men wanting more defined and contoured muscles.
Laser-assisted liposuction uses laser technology on specified areas of fat to burst energy that will loosen and liquefy the fat for removal.
After surgery, patients are required to wear a compression garment to help the body adjust to its new shape. The compression garment will need to be worn continuously for the first 3 weeks out of surgery. After 3 weeks, the garment will need to be worn most of the time, though at that point it would be okay to go without the garment for several hours at a time if cleared to do so. After 6 weeks, the compression garment does not need to be worn.
Although most swelling resolves over the first month after surgery, swelling may persist anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months. Wearing the compression garment as instructed plays a key role in reducing the amount of swelling post-operatively. Bruising from the procedure should be expected though it usually resolves within the first month after surgery. Liposuction does leave a small scar, but it fades over time. Make sure to follow all of your scar care instructions.

Is it Safe?
While today’s surgical techniques are safe, patients can experience poor results from inexperienced surgeons. It is important for patients to do their research, and find an experienced surgeon that can help them achieve the best, most natural-looking results.
The results of liposuction can be seen for many years following surgery if the patient follows a healthy diet and exercise program. Removed fat cells do not come back, but patients can still gain weight if their remaining fat cells grow.
Too Much Fat?
Yes, there can be too much fat. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons does not recommend removing more than 10 pounds of fat for the safety of the patient. Removing more than 10 pounds is considered high-volume liposuction, which increases the chances of complications from the surgery. Patients are advised to be near or at their ideal weight before undergoing liposuction.
While liposuction removes fat and improves contour and shape, it does not address sagging or drooping skin. If skin laxity is a concern, patients can talk to the surgeon during the consultation to discuss their options for improving skin texture, such as a tummy tuck, thigh, neck, arm or butt lift.
What type of incisions?
This surgery involves small incisions, usually less than 1cm in length, which are used to introduce the cannula into the areas that need liposuction. The number of incisions is dependent on what area and how many areas are being addressed.
Kind of dressings ?
The incisions will be covered with a small, sterile dressing that can stay in place for several days.
When will I see results?
You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment and will experience the most dramatic results after one to three months. Your body is still flushing fat cells and will continue doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.
