Ultherapy Step-by-Step
Before
Plastic surgery can yield dramatic results with a surgical lift of your skin, so it is good to keep in mind that Ultherapy will provide subtle results in comparison. During a private consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons, we will discuss which procedure is the right choice for you. Before Ultherapy is performed, the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed.
During
Dr. Snyder will apply an ultrasound gel onto the skin and then place the handheld applicator onto the patient’s skin. Using ultrasound imaging, we will be able to see deep within the skin to pinpoint the correct positioning for energy to be delivered. The ultrasound energy will be delivered underneath the surface of the skin. You can expect to feel small bits of energy delivered into various depths of the skin. Some people may feel a prickling sensation, so we may suggest taking a pain reliever or similar medication prior to treatment. The procedure can take anywhere from 30 – 90 minutes.
After
Since Ultherapy is noninvasive, there is no downtime associated with the treatment. You will be able to return to day-to-day activities immediately. After the procedure, your skin may look flushed, but this should subside within a few hours. Some patients report tenderness, slight swelling, or a tingling feeling in the treatment area, but these, too, typically go away in a few days. Within 2 – 3 months, most patients see a dramatic difference since the body has started to regenerate collagen naturally.
