meet our teamWhy Choose Breast Reduction?
Some women struggle for many years (even from puberty) with this weight on their chests and have tried to lose weight to decrease the size of their breasts.
Many individuals opt for breast reduction surgery to address a variety of concerns beyond cosmetic appearance. For some, a breast reduction is necessary to alleviate chronic back and shoulder pain caused by enlarged breasts.
Others may seek relief from skin irritation or rashes that commonly occur beneath the breast folds. Reducing the size of the breasts to better align with the body’s proportions often improves physical and emotional well-being.
Breast Reduction Incisions
Typically, a breast reduction requires a circular incision around the areola and a vertical incision that goes from the bottom of the areola to the fold underneath the breast. The vertical incision and surrounding skin underneath the breast will appear “bunched” right after surgery but will smooth out over time.
The incisions will be covered with surgical glue. This glue stays on the incisions for 1 – 3 weeks and eventually comes off on its own. Small pieces of gauze and tape may also be placed over the incisions, which may be removed 1 – 2 days after surgery. The incision sites should remain covered if they continue to drain fluid.

Before
During a breast reduction consultation, patients discuss their concerns regarding the size and weight of their breasts, as well as any physical discomfort or emotional issues they may be experiencing. Dr. Snyder evaluates breast size, shape, symmetry, and the patient’s overall health and medical history to determine candidacy for the procedure. Patients are informed about the surgical techniques involved, potential risks and complications, and expected outcomes.
During
On the day of the surgery, the chosen surgical technique, which may involve liposuction, excision, or a combination of both, is carefully executed to achieve the desired reduction in breast size and improve breast shape and symmetry. Excess breast tissue, fat, and skin are removed, and the remaining breast tissue is reshaped and lifted to create a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
After
We recommend using a compression bra to protect the breasts for the first several weeks. Patients may return to work within 7 – 10 days and resume physical activities (such as exercise) between 3 – 4 weeks post-operatively. While breast reduction results are immediately noticeable, initial swelling may hinder them. All sutures used are dissolvable or underneath the skin.
