EuroThreads; What are they and what do they do?

One of the hottest trends in the world of aesthetics, is the thread lift. Often called one of the most luxurious, non-surgical treatments for addressing aging concerns, EuroThreads are resorbable surgical-grade sutures, placed below the skin to achieve an instant, lasting lift. The procedure is completely non-surgical, and minimally invasive, with no downtime, and often have little to no visible bruising or side effects. While the threads can be used in multiple areas of the body, the face and neck are by far the most popular, and what we perform most in our office!

So what ARE these magic threads all about!? The threads themselves are made up of biodegradable, absorbable PDO sutures. The threads are inserted under the skin with a small canula, which elicits an inflammatory response from your body, and stimulates collagen production as you heal, therefore creating the new, improved position of the skin. The results are immediate, and visible the day of treatment, and continue to improve in the coming weeks. While the sutures themselves hold strength and show visible results for upwards of 18 months, many patients find that they achieve at least some degree of longer-lasting visible improvement. 

While the threads are not considered a permanent solution and are not usually recommended in patients who desire a drastic change, they are a great adjunct to consider before someone is ready for surgical intervention, such a facelift, or brow lift. The threads can also be used to address the visible appearance of smoker’s lines acne scarring and stretch marks. One of the newest trends, is the use of threads to achieve a “fox eye” lift, giving patients the appearance of a sultry cat, of fox-like eye shape. Sometimes, threads can be used in conjunction with other treatment modalities and even surgery, depending on a patient’s specific needs and desires. 

OK, so the BIG question…do they hurt!? By now you’re thinking that this treatment sounds great, but we probably lost you somewhere around canula under the skin. While the procedure itself is very quick, some patients do find some minor discomfort during the procedure, and notice some tightness right afterwards, that often subsides within a couple of days. For this reason, each patient receives both topical, and injectable numbing agents, and we offer other short-acting options as well, depending on a patient’s desires. The use of EuroThreads is also a great option for someone who is just beginning to consider facial rejuvenation, because while the improvement is more subtle than surgery, everyone will notice, but nobody has to know!
