About The LBJ Library
Located on The University of Texas at Austin campus, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library is one of 14 presidential libraries in the country. Lyndon Baines Johnson, or LBJ, became the 36th President of the United States after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, TX. Explore the permanent exhibits in the museum: The Legacy Gallery (LBJ’s impact on American life), November 22, 1963 (the day of Kennedy’s assassination when LBJ became President), The Vietnam Conflict (Johnson’s involvement in the Vietnam War), Social Justice Gallery (legislation passed by Johnson for Civil Rights, the Great Society, the arts, poverty, education, and beautification), The Presidential Limousine (LBJ's custom built limo), Oval Office (a reproduction of LBJ’s Oval Office), The White House Years (items from Johnson’s presidency), and Humor and the Presidency (an animatronic LBJ with political cartoons).
